Fable 5.1 is insane and it burned usage, which is fine. Anthropic just needs to nail Opus 5.1

Claude model activity is surfacing — worth tracking for capability changes, ecosystem impact, and availability.
A user describes Fable 5.1 as the best model they've ever used, highlighting its ability to clean memory stores, analyze blood panels, and its intelligence in Claude Code. They suggest that if Opus 5.1 can improve its personality, communication, honesty, and prevent overreach, it could lead to a workflow where Fable thinks and Opus acts, potentially causing many users to switch. Otherwise, Fable 5.1 remains a limited-use model, and the everyday model will continue to be undesirable.
Day one with Fable 5.1. It’s the best model I’ve ever talked to, no contest. It cleaned up my entire memory store, read three blood panels and actually connected them, it’s really nice to talk to, and it’s incredibly smart in Claude Code.
Problem: 30% of my Fable usage gone in a day, mainly because I want to test it in the codebase, but also because I ain’t fucking letting it spawn Opus 5 agents. It will ruin the whole project.
So realistically we need something for everyday use and for the engineering, the implementing. That’s supposed to be Opus.
If Opus 5.1 fixes the personality, the communication, the dishonesty, and the overreach, the stack becomes Fable thinks, Opus does, and I think a lot of people switch. If it doesn’t, Fable stays a ration that last at most 4 days and the everyday model stays the one nobody wants to use.
This is an important moment. I think the rough stretch Anthropic has been in is arguably over the day Opus 5.1 lands well, and I think a lot of their near future hinges on it.
