GPT-6 Astra was told to figure out Factorio on its own — and actually started building a factory

Derya Unutmaz tasked GPT-6 Astra with independently learning and playing Factorio. Initially, Astra developed a plugin to interact with the game, as it couldn't use the keyboard. It then explored the map, located an iron deposit, gathered wood for fuel, and constructed a mining drill. Astra subsequently placed a stone furnace, found a coal deposit, mined the coal, and loaded it into the furnace, demonstrating an ability to autonomously progress in the game.

Unlike previous AI demonstrations that relied on pre-programmed actions, GPT-6 Astra autonomously created a plugin to interact with Factorio and then independently strategized its gameplay.
