After getting downgraded by guardrails and the constant shorhand lingo that Opus uses, as well as my Fable 5.1 tokens getting used with a prompt or two, I decided to give Astra a try. I'm for sure not having buyers remorse at this point.

Day 1 is here in case you are interested.

Day 2-

One thing that I am no longer experiencing is token anxiety. I can much better predict how much Astra is going to use, than Fable 5 / 5.1. It's far less, without question. Still sucks down tokens but not like a dyson vacuum in room full of feathers.

It will use a password! That alone is a high five for me. As well, there was no downgrading at all, no complaints about guardrails. I purposely connected my phone over adb, and asked that we explore getting root access. It walked me through the possibilities, no complaints. I started on this journey because of Fable 5.1's downgrading on a few sessions which were FAR from me asking for root on a phone. You can see my actual session in my older post if you are curious.

I love the idea of a "Full reset" I get to reset my usage on my own accord. Not one day before my week was going to reset anyways. This is excellent in my case as I truly understand what Astra is using, and I can actually plan for when it would make sense.

Two things, which I did not like, it asked a question and then had a countdown timer on the question.I was not 100 percent focused on the session and just noticed it expiring and then continuing on without my input. Not a fan of that at all and I made not of it, so that it doesn't do this in the future. I also can't see how many tokens I am using, which I did like with Claude. That might be a setting, but I haven't researched it yet.

My god it speaks cleanly. I don't miss pants and suspenders claude talk and trying to figure out it's shorthand.

And it's fast. Blazing fast. I have a skill that searches five different sites for specific information. It takes Calude upwards of 7 to 10 minutes to do this task. I honestly just thought it was what was needed. Astra was 1 minute 11 seconds. Same prompt, and almost the verbatim results.
