TempleOS running inside the in-game monitors of Half Life 1
A developer has successfully integrated a real TempleOS instance, running in QEMU, into the in-game monitors of Half-Life 1. This allows players to interact with TempleOS, type commands, and play its games directly within the Half-Life environment. The project involved streaming the QEMU output onto the in-game monitors and required significant effort to get OpenGL hooking to work with the 1998-era GoldSrc engine, which was not well-documented.
This project is notable for integrating a modern OS instance into a 1998-era game engine, unlike typical in-game displays that are pre-rendered or simulated.
