The Bottleneck is Context Window
The primary limitation for current AI models, despite their increasing intelligence from companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, is the context window. While AI excels in well-defined problems such as coding, where information is structured and easily accessible (e.g., source code files, git, documentation), it struggles with more complex, real-world scenarios. In manufacturing, for instance, the multitude of constantly changing inputs makes it difficult for AI to maintain accuracy without extensive, time-consuming searches, leading to errors. To advance, AI development needs to prioritize models capable of handling vast context windows.
This analysis argues that the context window, not model intelligence, is the primary bottleneck for AI, unlike the current focus of leading AI companies.
