The Claude Code's /usage Stats tab reportedly overstates token usage by approximately two times, a discrepancy first reported on GitHub in August 2025 and still unresolved. This overstatement occurs because the Stats tab counts each content block as a separate usage instance, repeating the entire call's usage, unlike the Usage tab or claude -p --output-format json which correctly deduplicate. While this bug does not affect billing or limits, which are server-side, it misrepresents actual token consumption, impacting user assessment of plan value and vendor comparisons.
