China says AI CEOs' call for a slowdown is 'fear mongering'
China's Foreign Ministry has dismissed calls from AI CEOs to slow down the development of artificial intelligence, labeling such suggestions as "fear-mongering." Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that "Fear-mongering, confrontation, unfair competition will just disrupt [the] process of global AI governance." This response highlights China's stance against perceived attempts to hinder AI progress.
Unlike previous discussions on AI regulation, China's Foreign Ministry directly labels calls for a slowdown from AI CEOs as "fear-mongering," marking a more confrontational stance.
