Supersonic Labs has released Julia 1, a new open-source model designed for local device operation. This model, with 144.3 million parameters, is built upon mmBERT-small and can run on a CPU. Julia 1 is the initial outcome of research into compact decision models, aiming to classify, rank levels, and answer yes-or-no questions. The developers are investigating if a single model can handle these varied tasks as options change.
