Has Claude suddenly started contradicting itself, saying the opposite of what it means and just generally being awful for you too?
Users are reporting a sudden and consistent decline in the performance of Claude models, including "fable." The AI is described as contradicting itself, mixing up information, and saying the opposite of what it intends. One example provided shows Claude recommending a larger "10' model" after stating a user would "definitely want a smaller model." This issue is constant and has led users to question if it's a personal account problem or a broader issue with Claude itself.
Why this oneUnlike typical performance fluctuations, this report details a sudden and consistent degradation across all Claude models, including "fable," with specific examples of self-contradiction.

Claude has suddenly gotten awful for me. It keeps contradicting itself, mixing things up, saying the opposite of what it should, etc. It seems to happen with all models, even fable. it's stuff like the following
Claude: You definitely want a smaller model. *Snip* That's why I recommend you get the 10' model and skip the 5' model.
Me: you said smaller would be more appropriate, so why did you recommend the long one?
Claude: you're right to call that out...
Claude: I recommend the Graza olive oil because......
Me: I've tried that brand and thought it was pretty bad. Very bland and over priced.
Claude: if you tell me what you liked about Graza, I'll help you find a similar brand.
Me: I said I didn't like it.
Claude: Fair, that came out backwards - meant the opposite direction: what you didn't like about it so I don't point you in the same direction.
It has also suggested really stupid stuff like blooming my spices and Parmesan cheese in the frying pan before adding the rest of the food. If you know anything about cooking, that's a terrible idea.
It suggested I make a wrap with a tortilla, Parmesan cheese and salami. When I said that doesn't seem like it would be very filling, it suggested I use two tortillas.
This just started happening and it's constant. I have tons of other examples. Is it just me? Do I need to nuke my account memory to reset it or is this a problem with claude itself?
