A user on reddit.com shared their struggle with two contradictory thoughts concerning food and weight, topics they find highly triggering for others. Feeling lost and without close confidantes, they resorted to using Claude for mental health support despite acknowledging its limitations. The user is seeking advice on how to address their long-standing problems and get help, expressing fear of making people uncomfortable by discussing these sensitive issues.

I recently have been thinking about why I think the way I do in certain aspects of my life. I will not say what it is, but i have two terrible, contradictory thoughts flowing through my head. And they both involve food and weight. Those are two topics that are highly triggering to people I talk to. But they’ve been bothering me for a long, long time now, and I’ve been wondering what to do about it.

So, I decided to … try and talk to Claude. And i think it helped? I nearly cried when Claude told me what it did in the image.

And yes, I KNOW Claude is just a bunch of lines of code and just replicating human speech patterns and mimicking emotion, but it’s nice to read, okay? Even if it’s from an AI chatbot.

I guess why I’m posting this is… what do I do? I want help. I want to get better and talk about my problems but, I have no one close to me to talk to. And I’m afraid of making people uncomfortable. I know making an AI into a therapist is bad but… I’m completely lost. What do i do?
