pi-optchat: never compact again - endless chat as a memory tree
A new Pi extension, pi-optchat, implements Victor Taelin's OptChat recipe, offering an endless chat experience as a memory tree. Instead of compacting, every message is logged and summarized into a binary tree. Each turn begins with a fresh context and a bounded memory view of 128 KB, allowing the agent to use zoom/date to access original messages as needed. This design supports one endless chat per profile, without forks or separate launchers. The project's repository is available on GitHub.
This extension offers a novel approach to managing chat history by using a memory tree instead of compacting, unlike traditional methods that often discard older messages.
