Key-independent Collisions in Hash Functions at Scale using Claude and Codex
AI tools like Claude and Codex can now analyze hash functions for collisions and prove correctness in Lean. Collisions were discovered in komihash, a5hash, HighwayHash, SpookyHash, aHash, and t1ha2, including standard hashes in Rust, Go, and .NET. Analysis of collision resistance against hash speed revealed no inherent tradeoff.
