I asked Claude Code to make three US-only N64 ROM hacks work on my European PAL N64. It reverse-engineered them and patched them itself.

A user successfully used Claude Code to adapt three US-only N64 ROM hacks—Super Mario 64 Splitscreen Multiplayer, Mario Kart 64 4-Player Grand Prix, and Smash Remix 2.0.1—for a European PAL N64 console. Claude Code reverse-engineered and patched the ROMs itself, demonstrating its ability to make NTSC romhacks playable on PAL N64 Consoles. The process involved providing a folder with the ROMs and a prompt to make them compatible, with the tool reportedly using Opus 5.5.

Unlike previous methods, Claude Code autonomously reverse-engineered and patched the ROMs, demonstrating a new level of AI capability in adapting software across different regional standards.
