OpenAI's latest AI models are coming to Google Cloud and Antigravity

AI summary

OpenAI and Google Cloud are partnering to integrate OpenAI's frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud's Model Garden. This collaboration will provide customers with native access to these models, enabling complex agentic workflows at scale, supported by Google Cloud’s data governance and high-performance infrastructure. Additionally, GPT models will soon be available in Antigravity, Google’s agent-powered coding tool. OpenAI models will run entirely on Google’s infrastructure, with transactions managed through the Google Cloud Marketplace, making it easier for businesses with existing Google Cloud spending commitments to adopt GPT models.

Why this one

This partnership marks the first time OpenAI's frontier models are natively available within Google Cloud's Model Garden, unlike their prior primary cloud partnership with Microsoft.

Google would certainly prefer that everyone used its Gemini models with Google Cloud services, but soon, you’ll have more options. OpenAI and Google have come to an arrangement that will see the former’s frontier models arrive in Google Cloud services. Perhaps more importantly, GPT models will soon appear in Antigravity, Google’s agent-powered coding tool.

For enterprise customers and AI enthusiasts, OpenAI’s latest model will appear in Google’s “Model Garden” in the coming weeks, adding to its 200-plus options. The garden already offers access to Google’s Gemini models, as well as an assortment of open models like Mistral, Llama, and Gemma. Anthropic’s Claude AI has also been available for some time. Google says it’s now the only large cloud provider offering access to all three leading closed LLMs.

While OpenAI notes that Microsoft continues to be its primary cloud partner, the full suite of current GPT 6 and 6.1 models—Astra, Sol, and Luna—will launch on Google Cloud. Astra will naturally cost the most to run, but Google’s system supports dynamically moving workloads between LLMs based on performance, latency, and efficiency.

OpenAI models will be available to run entirely on Google’s infrastructure, with transactions handled via the Google Cloud Marketplace. For businesses with established Google Cloud spending commitments, this will make it easy to begin using GPT models in place of whatever they were using before.

OpenAI and Google Cloud (opens in a new window) are partnering to bring OpenAI’s frontier models and Codex (opens in a new window) agentic workflows into Google Cloud’s Model Garden. The integration will give customers native access to these models to power complex agentic workflows at scale, backed by Google Cloud’s data governance and high-performance infrastructure.

Google Cloud’s longstanding investment in machine learning and AI has made it a destination for AI workloads and the developers and data scientists building them. Bringing OpenAI models to its model garden gives these teams access to OpenAI’s frontier models within the environment where they already work, enabling enterprises to modernize their software development lifecycle, build agentic workflows, and change how people work.

For organizations in regulated industries, deploying AI requires control over who can access sensitive data and how it is used. The integration will pair OpenAI’s frontier models with Google Cloud’s built-in access controls, centralized data governance, and high-performance infrastructure to support demanding enterprise workloads.

Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI frontier models via model garden, transacted through the Google Cloud Marketplace. Enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments will be able to draw down their GCP commitments for these purchases.

Additionally, OpenAI models will soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent, providing enterprise customers with model choice flexibility and the best model for each task. By expanding access through Google Cloud, we are giving enterprises greater choice in how they discover and use frontier models, with a path from evaluation to broader adoption.

General availability is planned in the coming weeks. Request access to OpenAI on Google Cloud here.

Microsoft remains OpenAI’s primary cloud partner.
