Do ChatGPT/Anthropic product subscription users exist only to get butt f--d?

AI summary

A Reddit user expressed frustration with ChatGPT and Anthropic product subscriptions, feeling that users are entirely at the mercy of these companies despite the initial generosity of investor-funded compute. The user noted that while API users have some stability, subscription users lack it, questioning the legality of this situation. The user also referenced a past period, specifically August, when ChatGPT offered a great model and generous usage, implying a decline in service or value for current subscribers.

Yes, I understand that they are doing us a giant favour by burning investor dollars and giving us thousands of dollars of compute in hundred while getting us completely hooked and dependent.

But, I am getting so tired of this same shit repeating.

Anthropic is leading. Great models. But, very less usage. Waiting for ChatGPT to come to the rescue.

ChatGPT will then come out with a great model and generous usage. (Let's dial back to August)

You build your workflows around it. Eventually, usage will drop. Then, model will degrade. It is no longer what it.

Your workflows don't perform as well anymore and you hit limits that you didn't a month back.

Then, Anthropic will come in as the saviour. A great model with generious usage. You buy the plan. You make workflows there. You are rarely hitting limits. Its amazing.

Then, one fine day. BAMMM! You are now hitting limits very frequently. Then another fine day, BAMMM! the model has been downgraded.

You now have to pray that ChatGPT gives them some competition so the cycle can repeat.

There is no reliability. They can reduce your usage on any fine day without even notifying you. They can enshitify the models without letting you know.

There is no transparency about usage. You get "Usage" or "More Usage" or "Even more usage" as measurements.

Only API guys have some stability. Subscription users are completely at their mercy. I don't understand how this is legal.
