Opus 5.5 vs Sonnet 5.5: 3D steampunk whale modeling
A user compared Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 for 3D steampunk whale modeling, noting that Sonnet 5.5 was released during the project. Both models were used with structured prompts, and the whales were created in Blender before being transferred to three.js for browser display. Opus 5.5 processed 2.50M output tokens and 342M total tokens, costing approximately $156, while Sonnet 5.5 handled 1.68M output tokens and 297M total tokens, costing around $109.

I've seen a couple cool demos on twitter of people making detailed robots/mechs and wanted to try making something like that for myself and while I was making the scene with opus, antrhopic decided to drop the new sonnet, so I had to test that one too, since the benchmarks were off the charts for it
Metric Opus 5.5 Sonnet 5.5 Output tokens 2.50M 1.68M Total tokens (incl. cache) 342M 297M API equivalent ~$156 ~$109 the work wasn't done in one prompt, but in a series of structured prompts(same for both models though), the whales were made in blender and then transferred into three.js to run in the browser
sonnet 5.5 did surprise me here, but it's still pretty far from opus 5 I would say, to be fair the benchmarks claim nothing about 3D, so I guess it's to be expected
