OpenAI, Anthropic, Google have been in talks on AI safety for weeks
OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind have been collaborating on AI safety for several weeks, as confirmed by OpenAI's global policy chief, Chris Lehane. This collaboration follows Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's essay advocating for industry-wide cooperation to mitigate catastrophic AI risks. Prominent AI leaders, including OpenAI's Sam Altman and Google's Demis Hassabis, supported Amodei's call, with Altman stating OpenAI would integrate third-party evaluators for safety monitoring.
This report is the first to confirm that OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind have moved from public calls for AI safety collaboration to actual, weeks-long talks.
