I built a DAW (Ableton) with Claude Code, then put Claude inside it
A developer built a music app (DAW) called monody for macOS and Windows using Claude Code, leveraging different Claude models like Opus, Sonnet, and Fable for various development tasks. The app, which is similar to Ableton, was co-developed with Claude, even identifying and fixing issues like a malformed Ableton file crashing the app. Performance was optimized, reducing the time to add a bass track from 46 seconds to 5 seconds. Monody is currently free to try, with early builds distributed manually, and its assistant and MCP features work with an Anthropic key on the free plan, becoming a paid-plan feature without one.
This report details a developer's experience building a DAW with Claude Code, uniquely integrating Claude models for development and even for in-app assistance, unlike other AI-assisted coding projects.
