A 13-year-old, overwhelmed by the rapid evolution of AI tools like CLAUDE, Gemini, ChatGPT, Codex, OpenRouter, and Hermes, seeks guidance on entering the AI world.…
(ps y’all probably won’t read it all it’s long)So backstory i’m 13 i started using ai a while ago trying to code computer vision, image generation projects anyways my laptop wasn’t good so I couldn’t run everything locally and then well came CLAUDE Gemini ChatGPT. Well actually it was pretty much ChatGPT who started it, but after that, I was just like stuck like you called the level one user the one who uses everything in the web. Now i want to get better I don’t understand any of these new ai things also not really good at the terminal so new things like codex claude cowork claude code Gemini spark collaboration, or whatever then there’s also things called harnesses and routers, OpenRouter Hermes, openclaw and many other like new tools and none of this well let’s just call it nonsense. I don’t understand it. and i wanna get into like coding and automating my basically basically like automating my little laptop here just to make it like organized. I’ll start with that like basically doing home lab projects and then I’ll like continue exploring until i do something useful. So here are some questions i want answered so 1. requirements. do I need a beefy laptop? Can I use like something like im thinking of buying the framework 16 so I can run Linux and yeah or a MacBook Pro or do I need a Windows laptop because the thing is like that before everything was Linux, but now I see macOS is also getting in like CLAUDE cowork was only on Mac for a while and then Windows just seems in the past but also there’s some things that are only Windows I’m used to Windows. I haven’t used Mac and there’s also Linux of course but Linux some people say it’s difficult to like use also some things like vs code i don’t know if it’s on linux etc. I’ve never used it so I need an opinion on like which is the best OS/computer to use 2. where to learn rn i use youtube/reddit/gemini to learn and i watch channels like network chuck and some other AI ones that I just find out there but the problem with network chuck is that he does tutorials but not necessarily in order so first he says use cloud then openclaw then hermes im overwhelmed with information and i don’t know what to use so yea.
there’s probably more questions i want to ask but this is getting too long and i don’t remember what i want to say rn il make another post but just answer away what tools do you use do you have any tips for beginners that you wish you knew sooner?
