AI Gave my brother independence
A Reddit user shared how AI has provided their brother, who has Tubb4a-related Leukodystrophy and can no longer walk, talk, speak, or effectively use his eyes, with a new sense of independence. Using Astra and Opus 5.5, they created three new games for him, marking the first time he has had such games in over a decade. This development offers a significant improvement to his quality of life.

My brother has an ultra rare progressive condition called Tubb4a-related Leukodystrophy and he can no longer walk, talk, speak or use his eyes effectively for things like eye tracking. His body is failing him.
But! He can still move his head left and right and that was enough for me to figure out how to give him some access.
AI is moving fast. We built a lot for him to have some independence. It's like we are in a dream. I never expected to give Ben a way to text message let alone play video games again.
This week, we made 3 new games for Ben using Astra and Opus 5.5. Ben hasn't had games like these in over a decade.
He got a Mario Kart-like game, a 3D angry birds game and a pet simulator!
This tech has given me, my brother and families like us so much hope. More than you realize.
🤞 With future advancement in biotech, hopefully, conditions like Ben's can have better therapies to give him some physical capacity back.
Even though what we build is great for Ben and probably will be obsolete in a few months or next year based on how fast things are moving, we still put it out there for free and open source so another family has something to work from.
