Early progress on accelerating drug development with Claude

Anthropic's life sciences team is accelerating drug development using Claude, partnering with six organizations like BigHat Biosciences and Bristol Myers Squibb. Claude has supported lead optimization, such as improving antibody fragments for cancer and drug retention, and reanalyzing lab data. Additionally, Claude assisted Mithril Medicine in organizing contracts, logistics, and experiments with 11 external labs, enabling a muscular dystrophy treatment to show promising results in mice in under 18 months, with potential clinical trials by late 2028.

Unlike previous AI applications in drug discovery, Anthropic's Claude has moved beyond theoretical modeling to directly assist in lab data reanalysis and protocol changes, accelerating lead optimization and drug development timelines.
