built an open-source workspace for AI agents, and Claude wrote most of the code. Here's how the process works.
Lemma is an open-source workspace designed for collaboration between people and AI agents. It was developed by a team of four, with much of its code written by Claude. Users describe their desired workspace in plain English, and Claude Code, via Lemma's CLI, generates tables, agents, schedules, and web applications. Claude Code also serves as a runtime, allowing agents to operate using an existing Claude login without requiring an API key. While a hosted version with paid usage is available, the core functionality runs locally.
This report details how Claude wrote most of the code for an open-source AI agent workspace, unlike typical projects where human developers write the majority of the code.
