Revived my RetroFreak RF-1 console with GPT-6 Astra
A user successfully revived a RetroFreak RF-1 console, which had an endless white screen and unreliable power-on, using GPT-6 Astra. The repair involved deep investigation into RK3066 MaskROM, NAND/FTL, damaged system data, and filesystem repair. Initially, Web chatGPT helped find Japanese articles for MaskROM access, then Astra diagnosed the issue after GPT-5.6 Sol failed. The process consumed two full weekly quotas on a Pro x5 subscription, requiring Astra to be in Ultra mode to avoid repetitive cycles.

A story for anyone interested. I’m not a programmer, but over the week I used GPT-6 Astra in codex to diagnose and repair an a bit old RetroFreak console (emulator console with adapter for original carts from multiple gaming systems) with an endless white screen and unreliable power-on (it would hold power on 3rd-4th attempt only). The investigation ended up going deep into RK3066 MaskROM, NAND/FTL, damaged system data and filesystem repair and the console now cold-boots and plays games again. Hopefully it won't be a temporary repair. First Web chatGPT helped to find some Japanese articles on how to get to MaskROM and link console and my PC, then Astra (and previously 5.6 Sol which failed) tried to find what the problem actually was.

For reference, it ate through 2 full weekly quotas on Pro x5 subscription, I had to keep Astra in Ultra mode, because otherwise it started going in circles a couple of times.
