7 days of making a cozy game with no dev experience. Still no name but I made a cute trailer

AI summary

A developer with no prior experience has spent seven days creating a cozy game, working 6-8 hours nightly after their full-time job, and even 12 hours straight during a weekend "claude reset." While the game still lacks a name, a "cute trailer" has been produced. The developer plans to reduce daily posts and instead share updates every one to two weeks to showcase significant progress.

One Week in and here is where I'm at, very sorry for the Novel in advance lol I'm gonna cool it on the daily posts so im not spamming your feeds. ill post every week or two when theres real progress to show. still no name. and no, im not naming it "Blobby goes to Blobtown" or "Vardew Salley" 😭

Story: You move in to your new town, forage some berries, brew your first drink, help a neighbor find her lost rock named Doris. real cozy stuff...then you eat the wrong mushroom and things get weird. Find a rocket ship, meet aliens on another planet and bring back space ingredients for brews that shouldnt exist. it escalates lmao

Loop: Forage, brew, explore, quest. gather ingredients out in the world, brew recipes at home, do favors for neighbors, go on little adventures. theres mushrooms scattered around and some of them make you trip when you eat them. eat them all to find out lol. you can also buy materials, find new recipes by combining stuff from different biomes to make rarer brews, and expand your backyard.

World: the meadow connects through a cave system to a beach town and a snowy mountain village. each zone has its own npcs, shops, music and ingredients. stuff from one zone is worth more in another so theres always a reason to go back and forth.

most recent additions: day/night cycle and an original soundtrack (the trailer uses music from the game, made with GPT Astra). next up is energy and ground jiggle. everything will be blobby and jiggle!!

- Assets: all AI. claude writes prompts → gemini makes 2D watercolor images → meshy turns them into 3D models → claude cleans them up in blender → unity

- Animation:the floppy arms? claude auto-rigged the characters in blender and the arms are spring bones in unity that lag and flop as you walk. i just describe motions in plain english like "make him squish more side to side"

- Engine/platform: Unity, native on PC. aiming for a steam page soon so you can wishlist

- Cost: $100/mo claude, ~$20/mo meshy, free gemini. desktop app runs off the subscription, no api

- How many hours a day: Ive been grinding ngl 😅. like 6-8 hours a night after my full time job, and the claude reset this weekend did not help, had me at my desk for like 12 hours straight
