pixtuoid got a new look 👀 (real 2.5D pixel office for your AI agents)

AI summary

Pixtuoid, a free, open-source (MIT) terminal office for AI coding agents like Claude Code and Codex, recently shipped v0.21 with a significant revamp. The update introduces a real 2.5D cutaway view, rendered in actual pixels for terminals supporting images (kitty, iTerm2, SIXEL), with a fallback to the classic view otherwise. Users can also run pixtuoid floating as an always-on-top desktop window. Claude Code was instrumental in coordinating development for the renderer, sprite art, terminal graphics, and WebAssembly build.

Why this one

Unlike earlier versions, pixtuoid v0.21 introduces a 2.5D pixel office view, moving beyond the classic interface with support for image-enabled terminals.

Hey all! I built pixtuoid, a free, open-source (MIT) terminal office where your coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor + a bunch more) show up as pixel coworkers.

Just shipped v0.21, and the office finally got a big revamp: a real 2.5D cutaway view, drawn in actual pixels if your terminal supports images (kitty, iTerm2, SIXEL). If not, it falls back to the classic view. You can also run pixtuoid floating to pop it out as a little always-on-top window on your desktop.

How I used Claude Code: One lead Claude Code session coordinated a bunch of parallel sessions and subagents, each in its own git worktree, working on the cutaway renderer and its layers, the higher-res sprite art, terminal graphics (kitty / iTerm2 / SIXEL), and the WebAssembly build for the site. Separate reviewer agents checked every PR before it merged, and I mostly made the design calls.
