500B tokens later: Letting AI agents decompile a first-person shooter
Over the past three months, a developer used AI agents to decompile a popular first-person shooter, aiming for an accurate, stable, and feature-complete recreation rather than a simple proof-of-concept. The project utilized various AI models, including Claude Max, Codex Pro, Sonnet 5, Opus 5.5, Luna, Sol, and Terra. Initially, Discord was used for coordination, but as the project progressed, human-to-agent communication became less necessary as the agents operated autonomously.
Unlike previous attempts at AI-assisted decompilation, this project aimed for a feature-complete game recreation, demonstrating a new level of AI autonomy in complex reverse engineering tasks.
