Pretty bad storms in southern Michigan this past Friday. Lost power as they went through, we have a backup generator, but I know usually that means I’m going to lose internet service within an hour.
So since I was working with Fable at the time I popped up a new session the ask to setup a way to use my iPhone tether as home internet service. Once we nailed down the hardware setup: which computer, ports, extra usb nic, etc. Not only did it one shot getting it up and running but the resulting setup now detects when you plug in the phone and automatically tethers once you pass the “Trust this computer” prompt.
I’ve seen previous models struggle a bit with odd hardware setup related asks or knock down the network trying to do simple tasks. So the fact it finished this setup in 15 minutes was pretty impressive for me. Even delivering a complete runbook with series of recovery/debugging commands if it stops working.
