Bill Gates suggère de modifier le système fiscal pour taxer l’automatisation: « Si un robot fait la même chose que vous, il est normal de lui faire payer des impôts. »
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has reignited the debate around taxing automation, suggesting that if a robot or AI performs the same job as a human, it should be taxed. This idea stems from the current system where hiring humans incurs significant costs (contributions + tax), while robots are treated as amortized investments, incentivizing companies to replace human workers. Although the debate is active in France and Europe, the EU backed down from such a tax in 2017 due to industry pressure, and no such tax currently exists.
Unlike previous discussions, Bill Gates's renewed suggestion explicitly links robot taxation to the cost disparity between human labor and automated investments.
