Nvidia just showed that the harness, not the AI model, is now the real hero

Nvidia's recent research highlights the critical role of the "harness" in AI performance for long-horizon tasks, rather than just the underlying model. A harness, which includes software wrappers, tools, memory management, and rules, transforms a raw AI model into an autonomous agent. By using a custom harness with efficient memory handling and a "supervisor" component, researchers enabled Claude Opus 5 to achieve a 100% score on the ARC-AGI-3 benchmark, significantly outperforming its 30% score without the harness, which was previously the top result among tested models.
