Anthropic to pay Akamai $11.6 billion over seven years in cloud deal

Anthropic has committed to spending $11.6 billion over seven years on Akamai's cloud infrastructure, a deal significantly larger than a previously reported $1.8 billion agreement. This commitment is contingent on Akamai meeting specific delivery and service-availability requirements. As part of the deal, Akamai issued Anthropic a warrant for nonvoting preferred stock, convertible into 7.7 million common shares at $111.33 per share, representing up to 5% of Akamai's outstanding stock. The deal could potentially expand to $20 billion if Anthropic commits an additional $9 billion.
