OpenAI stuck fighting Musk antitrust suit after Apple finds a way out
Elon Musk has ceased his attacks on Apple regarding its integration of ChatGPT into iPhone features, but OpenAI remains embroiled in an antitrust lawsuit filed by Musk. OpenAI has criticized the lawsuit as an attempt to harass the company, especially as Musk's rival AI firm, now named SpaceXAI, strives to catch up. OpenAI previously dismissed Musk's claims as baseless, noting his inability to provide a precise estimate of the chatbot market share foreclosed by the OpenAI/Apple deal, with Musk's "back-of-the-envelope math" suggesting a range of 0 to 55 percent.
Unlike Apple, which found a way out, OpenAI is still fighting Musk's antitrust suit, marking a divergence in the legal challenges faced by the two companies.
