Please add a setting to make Enter insert a new line in the Claude chat input
Users are requesting a setting in Claude's web and desktop apps to change the default behavior of the Enter key. Currently, Enter sends a message, and Shift+Enter creates a new line. Users desire an option to reverse this, making Enter add a new line and Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) send the message, similar to Slack's functionality. This request has been acknowledged by support and forwarded to the product team.

Right now Enter always sends the message in the Claude web and desktop apps, and Shift+Enter adds a new line. There is no setting to change this. I asked support and they confirmed it, and said the request was passed on to the product team.
I write long, structured prompts, and I keep sending them half finished because my hand goes to Enter for a line break. It happens often enough that it has become a real annoyance.
Claude Code CLI already lets you remap these keys through keybindings, so the logic exists on the Anthropic side. It just isn't available in the web and desktop apps.
What I would like is a simple option in Settings with two modes. Enter sends and Shift+Enter adds a new line, which is the current behavior, or Enter adds a new line and Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on Mac) sends. Slack already offers a similar choice and it works well.
If you want this too, an upvote helps. If you have found a clean workaround on web or desktop, I would like to hear it.
