Hi all. I find myself kinda “tripping out” on certain topics and ideas from time to time. Here’s my recent one that pertains to AI and the direction that it could be driving humanity. I’m sure it’s a common discussion on Reddit, but I’d love to spin it in my own way and hear what yall think. 🤔

So theoretically, in the next few years, anyone with access to AI will be able to use it to create and manage their own business. The AI does all of the work (quite literally). I would assume that in many cases, the AI also does the bulk of the thinking and planning. Essentially it’ll just do everything after being prompted.

What direction do you all see this going in? Historically, commerce has always been driven by the most intelligent and creative individuals. It takes a special type of human to be a big-time CEO.

I guess the same question could be applied to any industry. We’re already seeing it happen with music and art and basically all things “creative.” But for the sake of this question, I’m wondering more about the main industries that drive the world. Financial, energy, IT, transportation.

When any average Joe can prompt an AI to build a company that offers the same level of service as any other established company, what’s the point anymore? How will we differentiate?

Or is that the whole point? Eventually we won’t have to think as much, or build as much, etc. Idk.

It feels scary, this idea that we’re all seeing growing into a reality. It’s unfathomable to a certain degree. At least for my feeble mind. I can’t really wrap my head around it. We could really be stepping into a future that’s completely new territory for humanity.

I just wonder if this is going to be a good thing or not. If it will “set us free” or ensnare us.

My last thought: maybe we’ve all collectively been brainwashed to believe that “the point” of life is work and industry. Our purpose is so often rooted in what we can produce and provide. Maybe if AI ends up taking the driver’s seat for industry, we’ll move into a new era where “the point” suddenly becomes something more. It might shift our purpose. It could challenge what it means to be human.
