Codex Windows app — can only send the first message in every chat

Users of the Codex/ChatGPT Windows desktop app, version 26.908.70816 released on Sep 14, 2026, are reporting a significant issue. In every new chat, only the first message can be sent successfully. After Codex responds, the input/composer field becomes stuck, preventing users from sending subsequent messages. This problem also affects old chats, where the input field is unusable. Restarting the app does not resolve the issue, leading to a cycle where only one message can be sent per new chat.

Unlike typical chat application bugs, this issue uniquely prevents sending any message beyond the first in every new or existing chat, rendering the app largely unusable.
