Fruit Fly Brain is now learning Mario Bros 3 LIVE

A simulated fruit fly brain, comprising 138,639 reconstructed neurons, is currently learning the first level of Super Mario Bros. 3 in real-time. The simulation accurately models neuron dynamics, including voltage, spikes, alpha synapses, delays, and refractory periods, as published by Shiu et al. Annotated circuits, such as LC4/LPLC2 for looming and DNg02 for flight, drive priors in the learning process. No actual fruit flies were harmed during this training.

Unlike other AI training demonstrations, this project simulates every one of the 138,639 reconstructed neurons of the FlyWire fruit-fly brain in real time, wired exactly as published.
