First Bill Introduced to Ban Superintelligent AI

Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigned, warning that AI companies are "racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives," potentially leading to humanity's demise by the decade's end. This comes as an international coalition, formed over the past two years, has briefed nearly 400 lawmakers across the US, UK, Canada, and Germany, with over 170 in the UK and Canada now publicly supporting campaigns to prevent superintelligence and maintain human control.

This marks the first time a bill has been introduced to ban superintelligent AI, moving the discussion from theoretical warnings to legislative action.
