A $39 open-source KVM just launched, and it's the cheapest way yet to give an AI agent control of a machine below the OS
JetKVM has launched the Mini, a $39 open-source KVM-over-IP device built on an ESP32-P4, offering hardware H.264 encoding. It captures 1080p HDMI, controls keyboard/mouse via a web UI, supports ISO mounting and Wake-on-LAN, with open-source firmware. This device allows an AI agent to control a machine below the OS level, enabling tasks like OS reinstallation or recovery from a hung GPU, which current OS-bound agents cannot perform.

Why it matters here: every "computer use" agent today runs inside the OS and dies at a BIOS screen, login prompt, or crashed installer. A KVM sees what the monitor sees and types what a keyboard types, so an agent driving one could reinstall an OS or recover a hung GPU box with zero software on the target. The post itself never mentions AI, but at this price with an open API it is an obvious building block. Curious if anyone here has tried giving an agent physical-layer control of hardware.
