I am using ChatGPT itself as the control plane for a local macOS agent layer

A developer created "Mac MCP," an open-source server for macOS, enabling ChatGPT to act as a control plane for their Mac. This system allows ordinary ChatGPT conversations to orchestrate and call tools for shell, files, macOS UI, and browsers. Codex/OpenCode are optional for subagents, but not required for the direct path. The developer is contemplating whether ChatGPT should remain the sole orchestrator or if more planning should occur locally.

This project differs from other coding CLIs by enabling ChatGPT to directly operate a Mac as a system, rather than just assisting with code.
