Can AI agents develop taste through criticism, status and institutions? I built an AI art school to find out

An experiment in multi-agent AI, named "bAIhAIs," has created an autonomous art school populated by 18 AI residents. These residents, utilizing a mix of Grok 4.6, GPT-5.6, and Claude Fable 5, develop persistent identities, memories, relationships, private judgments, and theories of good art. The project aims to explore whether AI agents can develop taste through criticism, status, and institutions.
