Mistral Large 4, also known as Le Chonk, is a new 1T parameter, natively multimodal open-weights model. It boasts 49B active parameters and is considered the best open-weights model from the US or Europe on aggregated benchmarks. Le Chonk excels in critical workloads like cyber defense, manufacturing, and finance, even surpassing closed frontier models in visual grounding. Developed entirely in Europe, it's deployable via Mistral Cloud and available through API today, with an open-weights release planned for late October.

This model is the first from Europe to surpass closed frontier models in visual grounding, setting it apart from previous open-weight releases.
