Day 1 vs Day 52 of my social resort game built with Claude Code

AI 摘要

A developer shared their progress on "Sunspire," a social resort game built with Claude Code. The game is a cozy pixel art casino resort, similar to Stardew Valley, featuring around 40 slot machines, table games, an arcade, a bowling alley, a prize counter, and a customizable penthouse. Players navigate a pixel world, with views switching to hi-res game screens for activities. The game uses fake coins, with no real money transactions or in-app purchases.

I built this game with Claude Code, and I wanted to share how it went.

The game is called Sunspire. It’s a cozy pixel art casino resort, kind of like Stardew Valley but in a casino. You walk around the resort in a pixel world, and when you sit down at a slot machine or a table, the view switches to a hi-res game screen(I am thinking about making these screens more pixel than hi-res). There are around 40 slot machines, table games, an arcade downstairs with skill cabinets that pay out tickets, a bowling alley, a prize counter, and a penthouse you can decorate. It all runs on fake coins. There’s no cash out and no in app purchases, so no real money anywhere.

It’s free. You can play it in your browser at play.sunspireresort.com and don't need an account to try it, and there’s an iOS version in testing too.

It’s plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D with Capacitor for the iOS shell, no game engine. All the art is drawn in code and all the sound is synthesized. The online side (accounts, a shared lobby you can see other players in) runs on Supabase and Cloudflare.

My routine for a big feature is to have Claude plan it first, then build it on its own git branch, then have a fresh Claude session review it without having seen the build. I run a few of these in parallel. For anything visual, I have it render two or three options on a sample page and I pick one before it builds the real thing, because describing a look in words never worked well for me.

Happy to answer questions and truly appreciate any feedback if you do check this out.
