Google announces Gemini 4 and says it’s so capable that only ‘trusted cyber defenders’ can have it right now

Google has announced Gemini 4 Argon, a new AI model so capable that it is currently only available to 'trusted cyber defenders'. This launch follows closely after OpenAI's DevDay conference, where OpenAI introduced its Dots AI agent and GPT-6.1 Sol AI model. OpenAI also recently decided against releasing a planned GPT-6.1 Astra model due to safety concerns. The announcement also comes after Kavukcuoglu's appointment as the new head of DeepMind in August.
