I am a teacher, and my students sometimes use AI for their homework. I can usually tell with ChatGPT writing (em dashes, not just this but that structure), but I struggle with Claude. I have identified some markers like overuse of 'genuinely', and paragraphs starting with 'here's the thing'.
What are some other common tells? Also any other advice and suggestions to identify AI writing are welcome.
PS. Just to be clear I don't have anything against professionals using it but for young students just learning to write, I believe it will affect their ability to learn and apply their own thoughts. I don't complain about them or anything like that, I just have a gentle private conversation with them.
